Following five years in New York, Anna Gillespie returned to her hometown of Portland and joined the Daylight team. In her current role at Daylight, Anna leverages her experience in client services and marketing strategy, providing excellent communication, support, and planning for every client that Daylight takes on. Outside of the office, Anna can be found hiking a mountain, practicing yoga, or at the dog park with her pups Samson and Finlay.
What is the most valuable tip you’ve received about your career?
Be aware of how the written word is interpreted. When you communicate with dozens of people every day, it’s important to always give an email a second read to make sure the correct message is being conveyed. Sometimes when you’re rushed, your message can read as rushed and brisk. That’s when it’s time for some edits!
What motivates you to succeed at your job?
At the end of the day I want folks to be happy: happy with the partnership, happy with the work produced and happy with how their goals are progressing.
Where do you go to escape Portlandia?
New York. I try to return every year to visit my favorite haunts and surround myself with the city’s never-ending energy.
